The first issue of the “Space Newsletter”

To the University Community

I am very pleased and proud to be able to accompany the dissemination of the first issue of the "Space Newsletter", as a further step forward along the path of integration and commitment of the University Community in the field of space sciences and technologies.

The initiative was conceived with the aim of systematically boosting creativity, resourcefulness, planning and challenges, mainly of young people, through the collection of testimonies and experiences and the continuous updating of the varied range of events that offer opportunities for 'information, comparison and to convey ideas and results regarding this complex and fascinating field.

The Newsletter can also go beyond the Community, systematically reaching the world of schools, businesses and other local institutions, looking in particular at the Mediterranean basin, in order to promote opportunities for exchange of knowledge and collaboration.
It may also represent a further contribution of the university community to the mission and activities promoted by the International Astronautical Federation, of which the University has been a member since 21 October 2019.

I address a dutiful and grateful applause both to the Uni @ working group towards space, composed of Lina Bevilacqua, Nadia Mammone, Andrea Morabito and Antonella Russo, for the profuse commitment and for having been able to convey simple propositive ideas in the best way enthusiasm of Gabriella Arrigo and the usual attention of Carlo Morabito, who, together with Giuseppe Araniti, also constantly contribute to keeping alive and dynamic the collaboration relationship undertaken in 2019 with the Italian Space Agency.

A more general thanks to all those who contributed to this first edition of the Newsletter and, in particular, to the Students who have already come forward, with the hope that the multiplication of commitment and involvement can continuously feed the developments of this commendable initiative, as a confident sign of belonging to the Community and of dreamy hope.

Best regards.
Santo Marcello Zimbone
