Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria in the Top-10 of CyberChallenge.IT, the national competition of Italian ethical hackers

Success of the team formed by the Engineering students of the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria (DIIES department) in the national final of the CyberChallenge.IT initiative. In fact, the fourth edition of CyberChallenge.IT, the national competition of Italian ethical hackers, has ended. The event (this year held online for the health emergency) involved 560 children between 16 and 23 years old, for a total of 28 teams, representing 26 universities, the Tuscan Cybersecurity Competence Center and the Training Command and Application School of the Turin Army. Organized every year by the National Cybersecurity Laboratory of CINI (National Interuniversity Consortium for Information Technology), the initiative is the largest national training effort in the field of cyber security, as well as one of the most recognized at European level.

The competition was won by the University of Pisa, but the positioning of the Mediterranea team was highly respected, having obtained the ninth place in the ranking of the 28 participants and above all placing the Mediterranea in first place in the category of universities to which it belongs ( group of universities with fewer than 10,000 students).

Great satisfaction of the six guys on the team, some enrolled in the three-year degree course in information engineering, others in the master's degree course in computer engineering and systems for telecommunications. All animated by the same passion, that for cybersecurity, and selected from among the 22 students who, under the guidance of the teaching team of the DIIES department, were trained during the past semester through a busy program (coordinated at national level) of 70 hours of teaching and laboratory. Here are their names: Andrea Dattola, Lara Saidia Fascì, Floriana Giacondino, Simona Perrone, Danilo Spinella and Marco Ventura.

Another testimony of the commitment and skills of our young people, and of the opportunities that the Università Mediterranea is able to offer in this as in many other sectors!
