Principal aims

Aim of the Laboratory of Calculus and Equilibrium Problems is to coordinate and promote the research in several fields of Mathematical Analysis and its Applications. In particular, the research activities of the Laboratory of Calculus and Equilibrium Problems may be grouped in the following main areas:

  • Variational methods for equilibrium problems, differential equations and difference equations;
  • Boundary Value Problems for elliptic and parabolic discontinuous operators.


Research activities

The following problems have been deeply investigated:

  • equilibrium problems and calculus of the solution, in particular traffic equilibrium problems (even in the case of weighted networks), equilibrium conditions for elastic-plastic equilibrium problems, evolutionary financial equilibrium problems;
  • unilateral contact boundary value problems;
  • infinite dimensional duality theory and optimality condition;
  • projected dynamical systems and variational inequalities;
  • differentiability and regularity of solutions to nonlinear discontinuous elliptic and parabolic systems;
  • global regularity results for some degenerate elliptic systems
  • Von Kàrmàn problem;
  • MENS-NEMS;
  • critical point theory;
  • variational methods for nonlinear difference equations;
  • Quasilinear elliptic equations in non-standard settings;
  • Nonlinear difference equations and variational methods for these;
  • nonlinear algebraic systems;
  • experiences of innovative methods of teaching mathematical analysis.
