Objectives The Laboratory aims to provide students with cognitive and methodological tools for greater control of project activity, understood as knowledge of the relationships that are established between materials and procedures within the more general process of programming, design, production, use of an artifact
To train architects with a high degree of technical and historical-critical culture, providing the possibility of application experiments and project syntheses on the theme of recovering the quality of urban architectural heritage, building history and monuments.
To this end, the courses must provide:
- capacity for historical-critical and historical-technical analysis of architecture, understood in its broadest sense (from the single artifact to the landscape and the environment);
- specific scientific, technical and regulatory knowledge, critically acquired
- capacity for planning and executive intervention, both for the restoration and restoration of the existing building, as well as for modern architectural production;
- planning and executive capacity in relation to urban and territorial recovery and requalification.
The contribution of the disciplines that characterize the Laboratory, in a logic of maximum integration, will allow the student to develop his own abilities to know in depth the functional, performance, material, technical - constructive, regulatory, managerial and environmental aspects connected to the implementation of the realization processes. in architecture.
The student will also be able to acquire the ability to design and graphically restore the fundamental construction elements and their assemblies, paying the necessary attention to the technical choices, to the building components and the construction systems.
Programme The laboratory intends to define the specific rules on the basis of which it is possible to draw up the executive drawings of the project, highlighting the role that the same project (the executive one and the construction site) is called to play.
- The representation of the object to be realized is entrusted to the drawings.
- The description of the works is expressed in the specifications.
- The definition of the commitment of the economic resources necessary for the construction is, finally, based on the quantification of the works (metric computations) and on the definition of the costs (estimates and unit price lists).

The Laboratory offers exercises of medium complexity, introduced through theoretical lessons whose contents are made available also through complementary design experiences.
Among the many aspects discussed are:
- The project phase, complete documentation, preventive climate assessment, cost estimation;
- The construction phase is the fundamental documentation of the construction site constituting the file or building booklet, the documentation and surveillance on safety, the control of materials and executions for the guarantee of future stability, the careful gradual and final assessment of the real costs faced ;
- The management phase in the entire life cycle (of the architecture already completed)
- Control over climate and energy management (consequences of initial design choices) and the consequent evaluation,
- continuous management and integration of the building file or booklet,
- scheduled maintenance.

Professor DOMENICO ENRICO MASSIMO
Objectives The laboratory will help to train architects capable of developing projects with feasibility thanks to the synergy between technological planning and evaluation which, in the real activity, must work together from the first original ideation of the project (draft) and up to the construction site, testing and management (end use) by the final recipients (users).
The triple impact estimates and economic impacts contribute to the actual implementation of the project: preventive - in itinere - final, carried out by the "economic evaluation of the projects". The sustainability strategy promoted by the EU. requires, in a cogent manner, that the project be preceded by the innovative "systemic eco-assessments". These assessments constitute a mandatory fulfillment in the professional activity of the designers.
